  • BrineRIS first Sampling in Poland

On December 7, the team of WUSTs BrineRIS and the team of the National Geological Institute of Poland met in Debiensko to sample under the BrineRIS project. More than 130 liters of brine were collected, which will now be sent to the laboratory and technology partners. All activities were carried out according to the applicable rules developed by the project partners under the close supervision of the project coordinator Magdalena Worsa-Kozak of Politechnika Wrocławska.

  • BrineRIS participation in Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH)

From 18 to 20 October, the fourth edition of the largest European mining event known as Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH) was held at the Seville Congress and Exhibition Centre (FIBES). During these days, professionals and companies from the mining industry from all over the world met. A BrineRIS booth was part of the event, which was represented by María José Jurado from CSIC. During the event, very valuable interactions and connections were generated with other participants. The objective of putting on the table the issue of recovery of metals through deep groundwater was a success on this occasion.   • BrineRIS consortium meeting

The BrineRIS project consortium meeting took place on 28 and 29 September in Wroclaw, Poland. The event was held in a hybrid way, allowing the online participation of those who could not attend in person.

Thirty-three people from 13 institutions attended the event which addressed the following aspects:

  • Discussion of achievements in terms of task progress, KPIs and deliverables.
  • Risk advice.
  • Future challenges
  • Debate on plans for the remainder of 2022 and for the next year 2023.
  • GeoLi Networking Event

GeoLi Networking Event, was organised as part of the BrineRIS project, which took place on 27 and 28 September in Wrcolaw, Poland. During its passage, 24 presentations and 10 posters of 25 different institutions were made. Thanks to the hybrid format of the event, 47 participants attended in person and 8 participants online, who had the opportunity to exchange new knowledge and expertise related to the recovery of critical metals from geothermal brines.

The event also culminated with a BrineRIS project meeting, including a full-day excursion to an old mine, a mineral water pump room and Książ w Wałbrzychu Castle.
